  Appraising your Pokémon   Pokémon GO’s appraisal system allows you to assess the potential of your Pokémon.  To appraise a Pokémon: In Map View, tap the  Main Menu  icon  Tap  Pokémon    Select a Pokémon Open the  Menu   Tap  Appraise When you tap Appraise, your Team Leader offers you an evaluation of your Pokémon. Each Pokémon is appraised out of three stars, with more stars reflecting higher battle potential. Along with the star rating, your Team Leader gives specific appraisals for Attack, Defense, and HP. Swipe left or right or tap the white arrows to view appraisals for adjacent Pokémon in your inventory.  Please note  that Evolving or Powering Up a Pokémon will not improve its appraisal, however Purifying a Shadow Pokémon will improve its appraisal.

What are Shiny Pokémon?   Shiny Pokémon  are rare variants of Pokémon that are differently colored than other Pokémon of their species. If you’re lucky, you may randomly encounter Shiny Pokémon in the wild, especially during special events like Community Days or Pokémon GO Fest.  You can tell if the Pokémon you’ve encountered is a Shiny Pokémon if you see an icon above their CP like the one in the picture below. Besides encounters in the wild, Raid Boss encounters, Special Research Breakthroughs, Research Task rewards, and other rewards are just a few ways you may encounter a Shiny Pokémon. Stay tuned to  the official Pokémon GO blog  for details on which Shiny Pokémon you may encounter or will be available in the game, as not all Pokémon in the game have a shiny variant available to date.
